You can be an Imagineer too
Thanks to the current situation, we are all finding ourselves in roles we probably never thought we be in. Many of us are now teachers, coaches, mentors, video conferencing experts, IT pros, and distance learners. In these new roles many of us are searching for complimentary content to help understand some complex topics. Today, I think we may have discovered a gold mine! The Khan Academy has a course that is perfect for children and adults that have ever wondered how Disney delivers their magic. The course allows us all to become virtual Imagineers!
Imagineering in a Box is a free course (as all are on Khan Academy) that is sure to pique the curiosity of any Disney fan. It cleverly blends the creative and technical professions. The key to the magic is how people with hundreds of skill sets come together to create the experiences we all love.
Making a theme park come to life like Disney does is the job of an Imagineer. From story creation, math, physics, and engineering it takes a collosal collaboration to deliver a magical experience. Imagineering in a Box allows you to explore how all those aspects come together. The course covers the many facets of park design, from character to ride development. This is not just a documentary style lecture either. The best part of this course is that YOU design your very own theme park.
This course is great to help foster creative and technical skills in your children or yourself. Its inspiring and thought provoking delivery brings out our inner Imagineer. So, when your kid asks you how they would ever use the math they are learning in the “real world”, look no further than this course.
Here is the video intro to the course, I signed up as soon as I watched it!
